Wildlife and Forestry Management

Functions
- Plan, formulate, facilitate, review and co-ordinate policy in support of wildlife, fisheries Forestry and biodiversity management in Zimbabwe
- Develop action plans for the implementation of the wildlife, forestry, fisheries and biodiversity policies and strategies;
- Collaborate with key stakeholders on actions plans for wild caught fish
- Promote conservation and sustainable use of the wildlife, forestry, fisheries and biodiversity through working with other Government Ministries, non -state actors and communities;
- Coordinate and facilitate trans-boundary management of wildlife, forestry, fisheries, and biodiversity e.g. TFCAs;
- Create partnerships and mobilise resources internally and externally;
- Conduct wildlife, fisheries and forestry research and analysis in support of sustainable development;
- Create, maintain an updated information management system for wildlife, forestry, fisheries and biodiversity;
- Plan, formulate review co-ordinate and facilitate policies and strategies pertaining to human wildlife conflict and CBNRM;
- Design, coordinate and implement various donor funded projects on wildlife, forestry, fisheries, and biodiversity;
- Promote education, training and awareness in wildlife, forestry and fisheries conservation;
- Review and facilitate approval of wildlife and forestry utilisation quotas;
- Coordinate and facilitate the domestication and implementation of Bilateral and Multi-Lateral Agreements (MEAs) pertaining to wildlife and forestry;
- Coordinate research innovation and development of best practices in wildlife, forestry and biodiversity management;
- Represent Zimbabwe in various regional and international meetings, conferences and workshops related to wildlife, forestry, fisheries and biodiversity.
